Spider Plant – Variegated (Chlorophytum comosum 'Variegatum') is a classic indoor houseplant cherished for its arching, striped leaves and easy-going nature. The variegated foliage features a mix of creamy white and bright green stripes, creating a lively, textured look that complements any interior space. Its charming baby plantlets, or “spiderettes,” cascade naturally from mature plants, making it perfect for hanging baskets or high shelves.

What it is: Spider Plant Variegated is a hardy, adaptable houseplant known for its long, slender leaves and rapid growth. It produces small white flowers under optimal conditions, followed by plantlets that can be propagated to grow new plants. Its trailing habit allows for versatile indoor styling, from desktop displays to hanging planters.

Why it’s great: This easy care houseplant is ideal for adding greenery with minimal effort. Spider Plant Variegated thrives in a variety of light conditions, improves indoor air quality, and delivers visual interest through its cascading foliage. It’s also beginner-friendly, making it an excellent choice for new plant owners who want a resilient, low-maintenance option.

Who it’s for: Perfect for plant enthusiasts seeking an attractive, low-maintenance addition to their indoor garden. It suits apartments, offices, and homes with moderate light conditions. The Spider Plant Variegated is especially beneficial for those who enjoy propagating new plants from offsets, providing a rewarding hands-on experience.

Care basics: Spider Plant prefers bright, indirect light but tolerates lower light areas. Keep soil consistently moist but allow the top inch to dry between waterings to prevent root rot. Fertilize monthly during the growing season with a balanced houseplant fertilizer. Regular pruning of damaged leaves and removal of old plantlets encourages healthy growth and keeps the plant looking full.

Pet safety disclaimer: Spider Plant Variegated is non-toxic to cats and dogs, according to the ASPCA. While safe, some pets may chew leaves, which can cause minor stomach upset in sensitive animals.

Shipping and acclimation reassurance: Plants are carefully packaged to protect foliage during transit. Minor leaf shedding may occur, but the plant will recover with proper light and watering. Allow time for acclimation to your home environment.

With its flowing variegated leaves, resilient growth, and charming trailing plantlets, Spider Plant Variegated is a reliable and visually appealing choice for any indoor plant collection.

Ya Just Gotta Have One
Size: 7.2 Surround + 3 HDMI
This is a must-have for in-wall wiring of your surround. I chose this one because I installed a 7.2 system with gold-plated jacks and it worked out great. You can get almost any combination of HDMI, subs/surrounds that you need (5.1, 5.2, 7.1, 7.2 etc). Do your planning on location and wire-routing; get good quality speaker wire and HDMI (high-speed with Audio Return Channel); get the remod-style mounting bracket/box then cut your hole at the same height/level as your electrical outlets and preferably between the same studs as your TV's wire-box so your HDMIs just run straight up to the TV (remember to install the bracket BEFORE you run your wires). When connecting the wires to these terminals, it's best to have 10 to 12 inches of wire coming out of the wall because you need space for your hands to manipulate the wires and nuts on the terminals. If you have a basement with access to the floor below the mounting location, it's best to drill 4 half-inch holes straight up through the bottom plate of the wall and feed your wires up those holes. Tip: If your TV and Surround Receiver are fully compatible you really only need 1 HDMI port on the wall plate, because you can plug your devices into the receiver and just sent the A/V/data to the TV while the audio is returned over the same HDMI.
